Dear Parents,
I am so excited to be working with your child this year! I think it is very important to have open lines of communication between parents and teachers in order to ensure that students get the most out of their time at school. I would like to share a little information about myself in order to help you get to know me. This will be my eighth year teaching special education, and my second year here at Bullard. I was born and raised in Ohio, and went to Ohio University for my undergraduate degree followed by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, for my master’s degree in Special Education.
I will be using the Language! curriculum this year for Language Arts and Reading instruction. We used this curriculum last year in small group Reading and Language Arts, and the students showed wonderful progress. I will be using the Harcourt Math series for Math instruction.
I will continue to only assign a couple of major pieces of homework a week: the Reading Log, which is always due on Wednesday and Spelling, which is always due on Friday. I will also be sending home any work students don’t finish in class as Math homework.
Because I don’t assign much homework, I expect the students to do their very best work on these assignments and to always have them ready to turn in. If students forget their homework, they will be given a citation and will miss out on some recess time until the homework is turned in.
Email or notes sent in are the best form of communication for me. My email is rachel.pakzadeh@cobbk12.org. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns! Please check the back of this letter for a few items your child can bring to small group if possible, as well as a list of classes they see me for.
I am excited about this school year and know it will be a great one for your child! I look forward to working with you!
Sincerely,
Rachel Pakzadeh
